  • Use research approaches to analyze new trends in ICT and develop innovative solutions that address the needs of the digital society and industry.

Program Administration

The Bachelor's Program in ICT is administered by the Department of Telecommunications at FIEK and is approved in accordance with Articles 100–102 of the Statute of the University of Prishtina. The Faculty Studies Commission oversees the preparation, review, and improvement of the curriculum, while the Faculty Council and the University Senate ultimately approve the program. Its implementation is monitored by FIEK's management structures (Dean, Vice-Deans, Coordinator for Academic Development and Quality Office), in cooperation with the ICT industry to ensure that the content of the program reflects the real market demands.

The Faculty's management structures are responsible for organizing the teaching process, scientific research, quality assurance and exams for student evaluation. In addition, the Department Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the learning process at the departmental level. The Statute of the University of Prishtina and the Faculty Regulations for the Organization of Academic Processes are publicly available on the University's website and easily accessible to all.

Several regulations and procedures guide the academic processes of the University. One of them is the regulation on the development, revision and approval of new curricula. This regulation outlines the procedures and requirements that must be met before any new curriculum can be introduced or any existing curriculum can be changed. Moreover, the University has a regulation on student assessment and progress during their studies, which provides guidelines for tracking and evaluating students' academic progress.

The university has specific regulations and procedures for BSc and MSc degree theses. These regulations set out the requirements and criteria that students must meet when writing their theses and provide guidance for their assessment and grading. By adhering to these regulations and procedures, the University of Prishtina ensures that its academic programs meet the highest standards and provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their chosen fields.

Admission Criteria

New student admissions at UP follow regulations that are based on the UP Statute. Public announcements are made on the UP website and the FIEK website. Article 103 of the UP Statute provides general details on the conditions of admission, which apply uniformly to all candidates. The specific conditions for Bachelor's studies, including application and enrollment details, are outlined in Articles 6, 7, and 8 of the UP Regulations. The FIEK Council decides on the subjects for the entrance exam, according to Article 103. Traditionally, FIEK chooses mathematics for the entrance exam, and the results are usually published within 2-3 days.

Candidates have the right to appeal within 3 days. The Commission for announcing the results was formed by FIEK. The application and registration criteria for Bachelor's studies are published on the UP website in two calls, usually in July and September.

The selection of students to enroll in study programs at FIEK was based on three criteria: previous achievements measured by high school success (30%), state matura exam scores (30%), and mathematics entrance exam scores (40%). The same mathematics entrance exam was used for all study programs.

Based on Article 6 of the UP Regulation for Basic Studies - Bachelor, No. 22 dt. 13.01.2022, all candidates who have completed high school and completed the State Matura exam, as well as candidates who have completed four years of former gymnasium (without the State Matura Exam), are eligible to apply for bachelor's studies.

The specific requirements/criteria for candidates who have completed their prior education outside Kosovo are based on Article 103 of the UP Statute. Students must have valid high school diplomas, or other equivalent study documents in accordance with MEST requirements. Students submit the original of their diplomas and grades as well as the original certificate of state matura exam scores.

Evaluation Criteria

All academic units of the University of Prishtina apply the following grading scale to assess student achievement:

  • 10 and 9 – Excellent

  • 8 – Very Good

  • 7 – Good

  • 6 – Sufficient

  • 5 – Insufficient (Fail)

The student successfully completes a course when he or she achieves at least grade 6 (Sufficient).

Assessment in each subject may include a combination of:

  • Final exam

  • Exams during the semester or quizzes

  • Design work or laboratory tasks

  • Participation and engagement in lectures

The exact distribution of points between these components is defined in the syllabus of each subject, but all subjects follow the same University grade scale presented above.
